“The most amazing things that can happen to a human being can happen to you, if you just lower your expectations.”

“You can tell a lot about a person by his biography.”

“Success is 1% inspiration, 98% perspiration, and 2% attention to detail.”

Phil Dunphy, the great thinker of modern times, presents his Phil’s-osophy—a fresh, and slightly-less-than-stuffy take on the classic realm of philosophy.

But is philosophy really as stuffy as it’s all cracked up to be?

This week I watched, read, and listened to lots of quality content on the topic of philosophy and what it really is.

This video is a short(ish?) recap of all that content presented in a way that’s hopefully just enough information to whet your appetite for more without spoiling your dinner.

Please enjoy and feel free to leave constructive criticism and feedback!

This is the full list of the non-condensed content I consumed and referenced in this video! Please feel free to peruse for further philosophical engagement.

“Give It Five Minutes” — article about not disagreeing too quickly.

“The Work Required to Have an Opinion” — article about fully thinking through both sides of an opinion.

“You Have No Idea How Wrong You Are” — video about how much we really don’t know.

“5 Reasons Philosophy Majors Make Great Entrepreneurs” — okay, this isn’t the exact article that I read this week, but it accomplishes the same task in describing the link between philosophy and entrepreneurship.

“What Is Philosophy?”— Philosophy Bites podcast episode where 52 philosophers give their response to the question, “What is philosophy?”

“When Do Hypotheticals Cover Their Cost?” — article discussing useless vs useful hypothetical questions.
