Welcome To Spring In MinneSnowta

10 April 2019.

Winter Storm Wesley rages its way across the Midwest.

Millions of Minnesotans are mourning the spring that never really was. Yesterday was 60° and sunny. Green grass was beginning to show itself to the world. Trees were budding.

Today is the beginning of a regular old blizzard.

The roads were warm enough to melt the snow as it fell, creating a thick and dangerous layer of slush. Snow (and temperatures) continued falling. The wind gusted.

A real life blizzard.

It also happens to be thundering and lightning-ing out. While it’s snowing. Throw in a rain/slush/ice/hail mixture of precipitation that doesn’t really know what it wants to be and you’ve got yourself a party.

It’s a blizzderstorm.

School for tomorrow is closed. Activities are closed. My dad and my brother and I are watching Office Space. It’s a real last winter hurrah, a final celebration of snowed-in-ness.

Enjoy your spring or winter or whatever it is.
