“His master said to him, ‘Excellent! you are a good and trustworthy servant. You have been faithful with a small amount, so I will put you in charge of a large amount. Come and join in your master’s happiness!’”

Matthew 25:23

Good reminder than in order to be trusted, you must first prove yourself trustworthy.

In order to be the friend, you must first be the slave.

In order to do the big stuff, you have to do the little stuff. And you have to do it well.

This can apply to literally every area of life (Jesus has a way of doing that). Friendships, romantic relationships, career, school, faith and ministry.

I have the tendency to want to jump the gun and do the Super Amazing Things That Will Blow Everybody’s Mind right away. Who wouldn’t want to heal someone from cancer, or run a marathon, or write a book that sells a million copies.

But in order to accomplish the big things—or rather, maybe to be blessed in the big things—you must first prove yourself willing to do the little things.

And to do them with excellence and integrity.

That’s all. Call me out if there’s heresy.
